Musician: Bass player/singer/guitar player /drummer/producer/engineer for THE BREAKESTRA, Dee jay & Co-Founder/Promoter: of THE ROOTDOWN & FUNKY SOLE PARTIES/KING OF THE SLASHIES!

What neighborhood do you closely identify with? What makes it so unique to you?
Anywhere in L.A. where there are progressive, expressive folks in the mix & that can really be all city from the north to the south to the east to the west…I also appreciate where i grew up in Topanga canyon for the country bohemia that is unavoidable & unmistakable.

What’s the greatest item that you’ve dug up at a local garage sale? How much did it cost?
Sadly my fingers are itchin to get dusty…

If you could interview one unsung hero, who would it be? Why?
DJ DUSK (RIP-ALWAYS IN THE MIX) .Though i had an idea how many people he affected & influenced including myself & what he did to help people i really only saw clearly to what extent after he passed.He was part of so many different currents at work for joy, justice & peace.

What’s your favorite youtube video?
THE MICHAEL JACKSON MEETS TOTO YACHT ROCK episode 5 or Michael Mcdonald meets Dr. Dre & Warren G episode.

Where are your favorite local spots to eat?
For the Los Angeles scene: Mambos Cuban food in Burbank, Nonna’s Pizzeria in South Pasadena, Allegria in Silverlake, Nicole’s French cafe spot in South Pasadena, Dar Mahgreb Morrocan in Hollywood, Cactus Taqueria on Vine Street, La Estrella on Figueroa, Aunt Kizzy’s Soul Food in Marina Del Rey, Bossa nova on Sunset for the Mahi fish platter, Paru’s - vegetarian Southern Indian in Los Feliz, The Gumbo Pot amongst the other 3rd & Fairfax Farmer’s Market food shops.

What are your favorite local nightlife scenes?
I am biased on Thursday nites at the Rootdown (@ Little Temple bar), Fridays at Punky Reggae (@ La Cita), also on Fridays, there’s the Soul Sessions (@ Grandstar in Chinatown) and Saturdays at Funky Sole (@ Jimmy’s Lounge)

What songs are at the top of your playlist at this very moment?

Pure Pleasure - “By My Side”

Ray Munnings of Beginning of the End - “sleep on dream on” (45 single version).

A Bob Dylan mix cd/selection he did for Starbuck’s that has mostly old but really good music from all over the world

What new projects you are building on right now?
New Breakestra music! & guitar folky-funk- rock of my own.
