Wang Dajun

The Scorching Sun
Art Seasons - Singapore
Event: 7/26/08 - 8/10/2008
***
Growing up in the ‘70s, Wang Dajun spent his formative years under the blanket of the “Red Experience”, and that has resulted in charged political overtones in his art. Familiar scenes of the Cultural Revolution form the backdrop of his paintings, with their focal point usually on a single child in the middle of the canvas, seemingly out of place amidst these turbulent times. Through this, the unnaturalness of a child wielding weapons like toys is emphasized.

(A full-colour catalogue for this exhibition is available. Please enquire with the gallery staff.)
