Nirvan Mullick: The Box Man

This critically acclaimed short, The Box Man , was completed by Nirvan Mullick in 2002 and had garnered several awards and honors. The story is based off the novel (of the same name) penned by the master of Japanese modern literature, Kobo Abe, whose dark existential world and absurdist humor about urban living makes him a cut above the rest. Utilizing stop-n-go animation, Mullick fashioned veiled characters against a dark urban backdrop cloaked in shadows. He combines these elements with the perfect blend of suspense and finishes the film with an eerie, neo-noir twist. Enjoy!

Mullick is the founder of Collaboration Foundation as well as director of The 1 Second Film . He began this project, while studying Experimental Animation at CalArts. The project has since expanded into a non-profit global collaboration produced by thousands of diverse people around the world. During which, Mullick formed a non-profit organization called the Collaboration Foundation to carry out a 5 Phase Plan to expand The 1 Second Film concept into non-profit sequels that will use collaborative art on a global scale to address various critical social-issues.
