DJ Soulscape, premier beatmaker and purveyor of fine things just sent us this rap mix of ‘88 hip hop tracks in time for the August 8th Opening Ceremony of the Summer ‘08 Olympics. In his own words: "I’ve spent last few days making this quick mix, celebrating 20 years since the ‘88 Seoul Olympic games and celebrating 20 years of my love for hip hop. I [hand-picked] and mixed 54 songs from my crate."

"All i [wanna] do is go back…way back to ‘88. [It] was the most significant year in my life. Seoul Olympics, yo! MTV raps, Juice Crew vs. BDP…it was the first time i started to listen to hip hop seriously. Everything was so fresh at that time. I used to watch AFKN (American Forces Korean Network) till midnight to catch hiphop music videos like Doug E. Fresh, Slick Rick… waited days to get the Tougher Than Leather album, though i couldn’t understand any of lyrics…"

As a serious collector of Korean soul records and a master on the turntables, his mix hailing straight out of Seoul, Korea, will get the party started for this year’s Summer games.
