If there were any doubts that the youth of the design world are ready to take the throne from their elders, Olivier Theyskens has done much to show otherwise. With little formal training Theyskens has carved a critically acclaimed path for himself, turning some otherwise little noted fashion houses into the words on everyone’s lips. His Spring 2009 collection for Nina Ricci was the kind of delicate beauty you would expect from the wunderkind. Garments fit for the sort of heroines of edwardian fiction, Theyskens’ ethereal romanticism is nothing short of truly breathtaking.
