The Jealous Girlfriend: “Organs on the Kitchen Floor”

The music video (helmed by Geoffray Barbier), features lead singer of The Jealous Girlfriends, Holly Miranda who gives a riveting performance.  In the opening shot, she draws you in with her intro played on the Nord electro and then stuns you with the sheer power of her vocals, as she belts out the brooding and melancholic waltz of “Organs on the Kitchen Floor”. Think Mazzy Star meets PJ Harvey. Backing up the sultry chanteuse , is the drummer Michael Fadem, Josh Abbott on his buzzsaw guitar and Alex Lipsen on synths.

Since the early 2000’s, Brooklyn boasted a wealth of groundbreaking indie bands who have originated or emigrated to its door.  The neighborhood became home to such indie successes as the Yeah Yeah Yeahs,  Les Savy Fav, and TV on the Radio (to name a few).  And although the Jealous Girlfriends were an independently produced band that thrived under the auspices of being Brooklyn’s “best-kept secret,” they quickly outgrew their own shoes. Now that they’ve signed on to Good Fences Records, you be will seeing more of this talented band as they make waves in the broader music arena.
