EM: Occupation and Position
HAHN: Creative director + Partner of Turntable Lab
Manager + Player of TTL Turtle Heads Soccer Club
EM: What neighborhood do you closely identify with? What makes your community so unique?
East village. I live there, and my wife and I both have shops there. The east village is unique in that it’s still somewhat insulated from the condo / high-end takeover you see in other neighborhoods like Tribeca, Chelsea, and Williamsburg. Once you get away from St. Marks, the neighborhood looks a lot like it did 10 years ago.
EM: What’s the greatest item that you found at your local garage/estate sale?
Numerous records, but recently, a mint collection of Push Pin Graphic magazines
EM: If you could interview one unsung hero, who would it be? Why?
Arsene Wenger. No one applies style and aesthetics to sport like Wenger… and on such an international. high-stakes level. I would love to hear stories about how he discovers talent that everyone else seems to miss, how he instills his particular style on the team, and details of the geniuses he’s coached.
EM: What’s your favorite youtube video.
I want my life to be like this:
EM: Where are your favorite local spots to eat?
Pearl Oyster Bar – In my old neighborhood, favorite restaurant in the city
More recently, Udon East – curry + udon = awesome and its open late
Puerto Rico coffee for my daily fix
EM: What songs are at the top of your playlist at this very moment?
The Hardy Boys: “Hardy Boys Anthem”
Elliot Smith: “A Fond Farewell”
Lil Wayne: “Comfortable”
Daft Punk: “Digital Love”
Osborne: “Ruling”
EM: What is your current bedside read?
iPhone news apps
Sports Illustrated
EM: What is your favorite city to visit when you travel abroad? And why?
I actually prefer stateside travel these days. It’s rare for me to have extended vacations so I don’t want to deal with trying to absorb and navigate different cultures. Plus, there’s so many great places to visit in the US. Recently, I’ve enjoyed SF, LA, Maui, Miami, Tahoe…even places like Fire Island and Palm Springs are super-interesting.
EM: What new projects you are building on right now?
I’m always working on improving our web presence (new lab site launching 2008, digital download version 2.0 and Estoy con Estupido 2.0 in 2009)
Also working with Blu Jemz on our money studies record label (watch for the pocket checkers) and the Turntable Lab book!
