Human Remains is one of those arthouse shorts branded in my memory for its frank and mundane portrayal of evil. Jay Rosenblatt directed a documentary on the most notorious of dictators in the 20th Century. In this segment of the film, he spliced together actual interviews and stock footage of Hitler.
But what makes this film so chilling is the banal manner in which these cold-blooded dictator recounted all the details of his life (whilst enacting the most heinous atrocities.) It was one of the most effective docs on this dark period of WWII. In the full short, Rosenblatt also features Stalin and Mao Ze Dong, among others.
