Half salamander half H.R. Puff ‘n’ Stuff, the Mexican walking fish is on the verge of turning belly up and floating down the river of extinction. Known widely as the Axolotl salamander, these cute little buggers are being seriously threatened by water pollution and habitat destruction. Another big problem is that they are easy prey, basically defenseless, against the non-native species, like the Tilapia and the Asian Carp, that have been introduced to their habitat by the fishing industry. →

Damn, I’m excited about this new street artist who goes by the moniker, Sir X. In the piece above, he paints a clever portrait of Pablo Picasso, stooped over to bomb his own name into the concrete. He’s clearly on a cerebral tip with his graffiti concepts! Hailing from Gijon, Spain, Sir X is one name heads will be watching out for in the international street art scene.

The EM office wants to revisit Beautiful Losers to remind folks that its slated to screen the annual Flatpack Festival ’09 (from March 11th to the 15th) in the U.K. Prior to that we had mentioned this directorial debut by Aaron Rose, when Nike Sportswear and Flux screened it last autumn for their Cinema Tuesday series.
