Alcapulco Reveries

Who wouldn’t want to stay in this ultimate pad that can accommodate the most memorable soirees as well as the most languorous sun-baked reveries.  Especially in these colder times, I look to Alcapulco on the map–teasing myself really–knowing full well I won’t be making that trip to Mexico this month.  Well at least I can dream and the architects from at103 (consisting of partners, Julio Amezcua and Francisco Pardo) can help!

This project they dubbed “House 3″ consists of a classic restoration as well as addition of an existing house in the old part of the city of Acapulco, México. Acapulco in the 50’s and 60’s was a Hollywood getaway attracting such denizens as: John Wayne, John F Kennedy and Maria Felix..  Think of that movie, Night of the Iguana (with Burt Reynolds, Deborah Kerr.)  Remember the scene when the glamorous Ava Gardner dances seductively in the waters with two beautiful native boys?  Since then this town became a dusty, almost forgotten vacation spot in need of some structural overhaul.  I love how the guys at103 incorporated the classic glamour of the past with modern architecture.  Exquisite!
