My View of History in the District

During President Obama’s Inauguration speech, I took a photo of this little girl.  She may not understand the significance of today but in the future, I am sure that she will.  As I walked through the sea of humanity by the National Mall, I came across people of all colors and ages. It was wonderful to share this moment with 1.5 million people during this historical event.

It’s a completely different experience to witness history in the making.  In 2007, I had the opportunity to see President Obama speak to a crowd of 1,000. From a crowd of 1,000 to 1.5 million yesterday, it felt unreal.  I felt as though I was in a dream.  The amount of support and passion that everyone had from the beginning of his journey continued yesterday.

Regardless of your opinion on our new President, you have to give him credit for being a huge inspirational figure to the world. My favorite moment during his speech was seeing the crowd’s response. The most enthusiastic people were the young children.

It was a beautiful sight.  It was worth every second of the six hours I spent in twenty degree weather.
