Antonio Ballester Moreno’s paintings are like acid-coated children’s illustrations, whimsical and playful in their irreverent use of color, shapes, and subject matter. His technique draws from a distinguishably arts and crafts aesthetic—the broad brushstrokes and patterns on canvas resemble colorful embroidery and tilework, while his inspirations vary from American transcendentalism to the anti-globalization movement. Peres Projects will present the works of Spanish artist Antonio Ballester Moreno in a collection titled “Gallo rojo, gallo negro” at the 28th International Contemporary Art Fair at the ARCO Madrid, from Feb. 11 to 16.
