Sultry, big-bosomed seductresses in fantasy landscapes are the focus of artist Natalia Fabia’s latest exhibition at the Corey Helford Gallery in Culver City. Combining the racy, decadent portraits of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec and the gritty glitz of punk rock, Fabia’s paintings are tongue-in-cheek “dream-escapes” that feature idealized female forms indulging in worldly pleasures. The exhibition holds a collection of signature glittery oil-on-panel works and a limited edition of 15 baroque-style Lucite chandeliers hand-signed by the artist.
Natalia Fabia is a Southern California-based artist whose artistic fascination with “hookers” has attracted attention from collectors, galleries and the press. In 2008, Fabia held the first-ever Miss Hooker Beauty Pageant, a competition between nine punk pinups showing off talents such as egg-frying and whistling. She also has her own line of jewelry, HookerFeathers, which has been popular among celebrities and fans.
