Austin avante-rockers, The Strange Boys sing their song “Woe is You and Me” in a lo-fi, gritty music video directed by Daniel Hill (assistant camera, Winston Calloway.) The jarring mini spotlights and dark shadows creates a heady, noir effect to their live performance. A nice complement to the band’s not-quite straight-ahead rock tune and Ryan Sambol’s raw, wavering croons. Their debut album, The Strange Boys..And Girls Club is set to release March 24, 2009.

In this innovative, multi-sensory art piece, a giant beached catfish lays complacently in the middle of David Ellis’ art studio, composed of black vinyls and spewing out beats and rhythms from its musical bowels. Applying the form and structure of nature to his visual art, mechanical engineering, music and beatmaking, Ellis developed a syncretic brand of digital time-lapse animation, which he dubbed, “motion painting.” →
