I’ve always been jealous of the almost instinctual ability Italian girls have of looking nothing less than stunning at all times. Always sleek, always impeccably tailored and always immaculately accessorized, they have a way of putting themselves together that is a form of chicness entirely it’s own. Although it then becomes a question of who came first, or rather who influenced who first. It’s obvious from the work of designers like Sylvia Fendi and Maurizio Pecoraro that luxury is the foundation from which many a Milanese ensemble is built, but are the designers simply giving the ladies what they want or are these tailored sensibilities something that runs far deeper into the Italian psyche than simple aesthetics? I think it’s safe to assume that they’re all born this way, that they come out of the womb with a Fendi bag, a pair of Prada shoes, and the innate talent to be able to put it all together beautifully…or at least that’s how it goes in my head.
