Starting in April, Machine Project will be turning their gallery/workshop space into a magical forest. If you aren’t familiar with Machine Project you can find more info on their website HERE. The forest will continuously be added to throughout the month until it has become completely haunted. They will still be holding lectures and workshops during April, they’ll just be taking place inside the forest.
The construction of the forest is going to be one of their most ambitious efforts to date and is headed by Christy McCaffrey and Sara Newey. Because building a forest can be so harrowing a task they are actively seeking any persons that would like to join them in their fantastical experiment. This Thursday the 12th at 8:30 pm there will be a meeting for anyone interesting in volunteering for the project. They are located on Alvarado St. in Echo Park. You can just find more info on the website. And they claim that there will be beer involved, so that’s good.
Also, they have a few events going on this weekend. If you’re into pies or just the number that is pi then you will be interested in their “Pie exchange, pie-eating and pi performance” in honor of Pi Day this Saturday. And Saturday night there will be a lecture on Nano-DNA. This lecture is for anyone curious about molecular computing, nanotech, chemistry, biology and engineering or if you just want to pretend to be smarter than you actually are.
