Parisian artist Arnaud Pagès is fascinated by serial killers. What better way to distill the dark side of Americana than appropriating the images of America’s most notorious killers? This isn’t the first time artists have been obsessed with the violent and sensational. In his Thirteen Most Wanted series of screenprints, Andy Warhol used FBI photos of infamous felons and gangsters and exhibited them at the 1964 World’s Fair in Queens.
In collaboration with French streetwear brand Kulte (known for its sardonic redesigns of vintage and kitsch) Pagès will release a much-anticipated line of limited-edition T-shirts called “The Blood Project.” Six T-shirts will feature distinct graphic treatments of Charles Manson, Ed Gein, Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy and Ed Kemper. In conjunction with the project, Pagès will also redecorate the Kulte boutique in Paris based on this theme.
