Jean-Charles de Castelbajac’s Fall 2009 RTW collection took me back to my childhood memories as he featured some of our favorite pop icons. From Andy Warhol, Clint Eastwood, Michael Jackson(during the Jackson 5 stint) to Kermit the Frog, Castelbajac’s creations resembled an aisle from Toy-R-Us and a section of Nigo’s collection of American pop culture items.
This line was another step up from Castelbajac’s screen printed t-shirts from last season, which features President Obama on the dollar bill (in the absence of George Washington’s face) and a jacket made out of Kermit the frog.
If Andy Warhol was alive today, would he approve of his image appearing on a fashion runway? His influence on pop culture continues to intrigue me. Click here to view the entire collection.
