Each week I rip a song from vinyl and post it up here. This week’s post is “The Whistle Song” by Frankie Knuckles. Frankie Knuckles is dope and Paul Shapiro on the flute is an amazing thing. This isn’t an original pressing, or promo press, or anything like that. Sorry cool people. It’s a bootleg I found at one of my favorite record stores (it’s 9:46 mins. long. whaat?!). In any case, it’s the kind of jam I recommend keeping on the late night dance shuffle playlists. “The Whistle Song” is a Mr. Knuckles hit, but it isn’t the only one, in my humble opinion. You might recognize this track from that one Animal Collective song.

Or maybe that one Friendly Fires cover. Anyway, Jamie Principle did the song and Frankie Knuckles was playing it on reel-to-reel at the Warehouse, until it was so hot he had to press it to vinyl.
