Finnish artist Laura Laine’s svelte, almost gothic illustrations have graced the pages of magazines like The New York Times TMagazine, ELLE Girl, WTF and Vive La Mode as well as set a new spin on the work of designers like Rad Hourani, Iben Hoj, and Daniel Palillo.
Although I’m no art buff, I am a huge fan of fashion illustration and was instantly captivated by the gracefully dark and ethereal edge to Laine’s work. Her sleek interpretations of modern fashion on sleepy-eyed, otherworldly beauties are the things fashion illustration dreams (ok, so maybe MY fashion illustration dreams) are made of. Trend Land recently posted a gorgeous mixed media spread from Italy’s Muse Magazine where Laine added her touch to a load of fantastic spring accessories. With an eye as sharp as the designs she recreating, I have a feeling it’s just a matter of time before the big publications come calling…
