Each week I rip a song from vinyl and post it up here. Sometimes I have a great opportunity to have a guest drop a song. This week I was lucky enough to have Jay share a song with us. You might know him from his music with Time Machine, his work on Glow In The Dark Records, or from the Glow Like This blog. This week Jay brings us “Pink Panther” by Paul Blake & The Bloodfire Posse. The past few days seemed to fly by for me and I can’t think of a better tune to end off this special week.

I can’t front and say I knew anything about Paul Blake or The Bloodfire Posse before now. When I checked Wikipedia I came upon Paul “Frankie Paul” Blake, who was born almost blind and called “The Jamaican Stevie Wonder” by some. Paul Blake of The Bloodfire Posse is a completely different Reggae artist though. According to an interview with Paul Blake on Jamaica Gleaner, Blake started singing in high school before he moved on to singing in night clubs. Later he formed The Bloodfire Posse and they made the hit singles “Rub-A-Dub Soldier” and “Every Posse Get Flat.” They also toured the U.S. west coast and all over Europe. Blake parted from the group in 1987, and in 1991, when Blake’s father died, things changed drastically for him. He is now the music minister and outreach director at Lighthouse of Faith Ministries International. He’s said to have a Reggae gospel album in the works, but I haven’t been able to find if it’s been released yet.
