Swine Flu Outbreak A Growing Concern

A growing swine influenza outbreak is starting to spark global attention.  What started as a strange sickness is thought to have taken 103 lives in Mexico City with over 1000 other cases reported throughout the city.  As cases in the United States and Canada have sprung up the world begins to brace itself for what the World Health Organization has declared a “public health emergency of international concern.”

Jun Takahashi’s Undercover GRACE photo exhibition

Celebrated Cult Japanese Designer JUN TAKAHASHI will be in Hong Kong for the opening of the GRACE photo exhibition at Joyce Boutique in Central. Takahashi, the man behind UNDERCOVER, collaborated with photographer Katsuhide Morimoto on showcasing UNDERCOVER’s Spring Summer’09 collection in an fresh, unconventional way.

Deconstructing the Opposites

Since graduating from the Art Institute of Chicago, designer Gary Graham set up shop in the garment district in New York and has been turning out luxurious collections full of historical and natural references. Taking inspiration from everything from the Dust Bowl to gypsies, botany to Victorian opulence, Graham’s use of materials and draping creates clothing that makes a statement while still remaining easy, comfortable and above all else, totally gorgeous.

President Obama’s Address At CIA HQ

Despite what the rumour mills are outputting in regards to President Obama’s relation with the CIA, from watching this youtube clip of Obama’s address at Langley, the morale of the CIA to the President is decent if not accepting. Obama is a charismatic speaker, I am constantly in awe at his ability to own his unique standing in government.

Museums Struggling due to Recession

The recession is taking its toll on art museums and galleries across the country. Many are being forced to cut their budgets and staff and raise admission fees, while others are not able to pursue ambitious projects, some have even had to shut down, and a couple have been bailed out by billionaire philanthropists (L.A’s Museum of Contemporary Art being one).
