Yoko Furusho has recently graduated from the School of Visual Arts in New York City, and is from Tokyo. Her work has a certain sumptuousness that might remind you of embroidery. Yoko’s art has a type of freedom instilled in it that’s refreshing and her subjects are just as much a study in escapism as they are representative of the real girl who dream of them. The friendly fantasy element works wonders with her depictions of girls in couture – and the detail is spectacular; down to each strand of hair. Fashion is obviously is a huge inspiration for her work. Evidently, she is addicted to collecting fashion magazines and likes dresses and cute textiles. Sometimes, she uses fabric to show her fluffy feelings and imagination. By mixing her imagination with reality, Yoko Furusho ends up with colorful, airy, wish-you-were-there kind of pieces.
