Origami Vinyl just hosted Record Club at El Prado in Echo Park yesterday and will continue to do a weekly gathering every Tuesday. Record Club started as an intimate gathering of friends at their humble abodes in Echo Park and Silverlake, where each person invited (generally around
would bring 2 songs to play for everyone. The night would conclude with the host making a mix of all the songs played and handing them out to the participants. We all found it to be such a rewarding experience of new music and social interaction that we wanted to bring it out into the public. The new format is a bit different but just as rewarding and is as follows:
- Each Tuesday, 6 people are invited by Neil Schield and Sean Stentz to join Record Club
- Record Club begins at 9pm sharp and ends around 1am
- Each person must play a full side of a record. A side or B side is fine.
- Before a record is played, the person playing the Record will give a small introduction on the artist and title
- As the record is being played, The record sleeve and and liner notes are intended to be passed around the bar.
- After each person plays their side, a 5 minute interaction/discussion takes place.
- At the end of Record Club, Neil and Sean will hand out a listing of what was played
If you would like to participate in future record clubs, please come to one of the events or if you visit their record shop, they will gladly place you on their list.
