“Circles”

We dig this invigorating music video by the Australian natives, Qua on their single, “Circles.” Directed by Gus Kemp, the video features muppet impersonation of the band that conveys all the frenetic energy of a Jim Henson flick.   The band’s transcendent rock energy and electronic noodling will surely add a little pep to your morning coffee. Taken from the the band’s recent release, Q&A (on Love + Mercy Records/Mush Records).  Check out Abe‘s review of the album here.

The “Reading Through Seeing” exhibition is based on some of Parlá’s most colorful works in his trademark multi-texture and layer aesthetic. In recent trips to Japan and his exposure to pottery have worked their way into the exhibit as well via traditional Japanese techniques. Q&A: Denis Gagnon

fw09gagnon_lgCanadian Designer Denis Gagnon creates strangely alluring minimalist and androgynous clothing for women. For his 09 collection we see a mix of geometric sharp leather shoulders and padded quilted jackets and grecian panel drapery, a dystopia of  modern functionality with the gentle romanticism of flowy silk material and the embellishments of crystal and lego jewellery of designer Harakari. It is for the dark modern rocker chick with sequinned pants, fur, sleek yet textured dresses, and hooded jackets; all elegance with a touch of distanced chic menace.

INT. A room. Inside the room are three divans, a mantle and a bronze bust that sits on the mantle. Estelle lays languidly on the middle divan, and Ines sits on the neighboring one, listening attentively. Garcin stands, anguished at the mantle. Estelle speaks.

Nike Meets the Muppets…with Kobe and Lebron

Nike pushes the envelop again–this time in a way you wouldn’t expect.  They take a little shot at Kobe and Lebron, chronicling the two MVP’s path from the offseason to this season’s playoffs in comedic fashion.  Leave it to Nike to not be afraid to have a little fun.

Opportunity missed.

toyota-insight

Honda has recently unveiled their new Hybrid, the Insight (the one on the right…I think), which shares its name with its ill-befallen electric predecessor. Honda says the exterior design is a homage to and evolution of the original Insight (which looked a bit like their 80′s CRX with plastic wheel covers), but either way there therein lay a great opportunity for a fresh challenger to the en-vogue Prius.

EM:  Occupation and Position.
DJ (Rezound) and Band Member (Men & Women)

EM:  What neighborhood do you closely identify with?  What makes your community so unique?
I don’t really closely identify with any one neighborhood in NYC in particular.  I’m originally from an island near Seattle, so I would say I identify with the natural surroundings of the Pacific Northwest on a major vibes level. I think NYC is a pretty rad place for motivated creative people in general though. It demands a certain level of hard work and determination in order to succeed and it weeds out the floaters.

DC Remix Series project: MSDC Xander

DC Remix Series project: MSDC Xander

This second DC Remix Series™ project, the MSDC Xander, is a great juxtaposition of Mike Shinoda’s unique influences: accomplished artist vs. record-breaking musician, American upbringing vs. Japanese heritage. Shinoda chose traditional Japanese patterns and koi scale textures for his shoe and packaging; the sole features custom fish scale tooling created just for this project and artwork sublimated underneath.
