Each week I rip a song from vinyl and post it up here. This week’s song is “4 more ft Zhane” by De La Soul. I missed posting the past two weeks. I want to blame it on the alcohol, so I will. Times were getting tough, and when the going gets tough, I curl up in a ball in the corner of a very dark room and rock back & forth for a little bit. But then after that, I’m a-ok!

Now that I’m doing better I decided to post a really really dopeass song that I vowed never to share digitally (never say never i guess). I also hope it’ll make-up for the past two weeks I was away (not that it matters, but i don’t think anyone noticed). “4 More ft Zhane” is a sleeper jam from De La’s ‘96 album, Stakes Is High, which happens to be the best De La album, imo. The lyrics on the entire album are unfuckwitable.

This song specifically, is off of the clear-yellow “more supa sweet stakes, baby” vinyl single. Zhane on vocals is a good thing and the keys on this induce hip-swinging head-nodding action. In the summer of ‘96 Clockwork was the only DJ I knew of who would play this song out, probably because he’s the one who introduced me to the song. When I’d hear it in the club I was guaranteed to stop any conversation I may have been in and lose my shit.
