Amon Tobin occupies a thinly oxygenated stratosphere that few DJs ever come close to.  When it comes to producing and beatmaking, the Brazilian drum&bass maestro is inexorable in his explorations of the unknown; and yet his sounds always carrying with it the pervasive familiarity of a dark dream that clings until slowly dissipating with the early rays of dawn. 

With his last atmospheric release, Foley Room from (on Ninja Tunes), the departure from his older style is a natural progression. He delves self-assuredly into the ethereal realm of iridescent winged creatures – half faery, half insect that bask in the langorous orchestral soundscapes that became his signature touch.  Music heads have grown to love and respect his sixth album since its release in March of last year.  And now word has it that a new video will be coming out on his cinematic track, “Esther’s” as well as music to the new video game INFAMOUS.  In the meantime, I hope you enjoy this track on EM.
