Shepard Fairey is arguably the most famous artist of the Arkitip alumni group, and could quite possibly be the artist most remembered of his generation. We celebrate Shepard’s methods not only because they are beautiful and effective but also because he took on the mainstream art establishment and after 20 long years, he seems to be winning. →

When I first met Brian Yu, I was struck by the sincerity of his work and the diligence he demonstrated to hone his craft. He specializes in 3D art, illustration and photography. We are genuinely happy to have him part of the EM editorial community. As our featured artist this month, he illustrated the portraits for issue no. 24 themed, WANDERLUST and you can view them in the left-hand column of our site. He also just turned us on to his redesigned website, VFX Villain: http://www.vfxvillain.com. →

When he put out a terrible mixtape, I refrained. When he got arrested for taking mushrooms and preaching naked on his roof, I fell back. But, now the boy’s go, go, gone and quit his multi-million dollar skateboarding career to be a rapper at the ripe old age of 24, and I just can’t keep quiet anymore.

Each week I rip a song from vinyl and post it up here. This week’s song is “4 more ft Zhane” by De La Soul. I missed posting the past two weeks. I want to blame it on the alcohol, so I will. Times were getting tough, and when the going gets tough, I curl up in a ball in the corner of a very dark room and rock back & forth for a little bit. But then after that, I’m a-ok! →
