For her first ready to wear collection, FIT trained designer Karolina Zmarlak chose to focus on new technologies in fabric and how they effect versatility and wearability for a modern woman. Working with a stabilizing textile called power net, Zmarlak constructed designs that are easy to manipulate and configure to each wearer’s specifications. Hidden snaps and ties also allow for easy adjusting and customizable fits.
In this thrilling documentary entitled The Cove, activist filmmakers led by Rick O’Barry unveil the disturbing truths behind Japan’s multi-million dollar industry. The film centers around a dolphin themed water park built from Japan’s fascination of the U.S. show, Flipper. What starts innocently enough, suddenly goes awry when O’Barry (the world renowned trainer of the show) picks at the moral frays of the small fishing community in Taiji, Japan. You begin to find out that this little town is hiding a really big secret. →

The Philadelphia Experiment (PEX) is excited to announce the First Annual PEX Summer Festival July 3rd- 6th in Darlington, Maryland, (1 hour from Philly and Baltimore, 90 minutes from DC, and 3 hours from NYC). I currently live in Silverlake and love it. I love that I can step out the door on foot and head down the hill to local coffee shops and the best farmer’s market on Saturdays. The East Side rules. Such a great diverse community full of hidden finds. The local cafe’s, boutiques and galleries are some of the best in the city. And if you feel like chillin’ in the grass on a lazy afternoon you have multiple parks to choose from. →
