At age 7, DJ Ruthless Ramsey Higgins wanted to learn how to scratch. One problem: he didn’t have a record player. Rather than let that squash his dreams, he opened up his boombox and got it crackin. From baby to crab scratches, Ramsey translated it all onto his tape player. And, unlike some DJ’s who learned the tape decks only to abandon them, Ramsey never forgot where he came from. This video shows why DJ Z-Trip calls him the “Qbert of the tape decks”. Ramsey is also featured in our article “Don’t Sweat the Degree”.
