Eternal Moonwalk

Sticky ideas these days are about a dime a dozen, but Studio Brussels managed to take the things we use everyday and create an original idea that many will want to use.  Introducing the Eternal Moonwalk, a website created as a tribute to the late Michael Jackson, designed for a community that is still coming to terms with the superstar’s tragic passing.

In a pay it forward meets Youtube concept, the Eternal Moonwalk allows viewers to actively participate in a commemoration of Michael Jackson by celebrating his most iconic dance move: the moonwalk.  This is the idea: to create an unbroken line of people, beginning with Michael himself, moonwalking across the screen.  The flash site allows users to submit their own short moonwalk clips, takes all of them and splices them together after Michael’s own clip to create an “eternal moonwalk.”  Walks are being submitted constantly.  But the fun doesn’t end there: Under each clip is the dancer’s name and location–plus buttons that allow you to send the clips you like or find funny (or sad) to your Facebook, Twitter, email, etc.  A search function at the bottom of the site also allows you to search for specific names and queue their clips on your screen.

A fitting tribute for a star whose desire was to bring the world together with his music.  Now he’s doing it with his memory.
