Undergrowth Design

Following the success of Tina Tsang’s Undergrowth Design in London, we are pleased to be offering a limited edition selection at Urban Outfitters stores this month. “My designs make tea drinking a fun and flirtatious affair,” says the London-based designer. After graduating from Central Saint Martins College of Art, Tsang started out as a lingerie designer before creating Undergrowth Design in 2007. The Blaue Blume ceramics are her most recent and successful venture.

“The further development came from fantasy and fairytale images where everything is surreal and quirky,” she adds. The traditional English tea set is reworked with delicate lace castings and subversive leg handles complete with gold shoes.

“The pieces were inspired from the beautiful lace I was using to make lingerie and the legs were originally a Victorian powder puff found at a vintage market.” The Blaue Blume tea service range has been exhibited at the Hayward Gallery, London, is used in the renowned tea room Sketch, and fans include Tracey Emin and Vivienne Westwood.
