The costs of importing and exporting food threaten not only our environment but also our health as well, as a recent film will argue. It is now more important than ever to buy fresh produce locally as to undermine a greedy industry and to dine on tastier, fresher foods. Tomorrow, Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) will be in Downtown Los Angeles to sell ready-made mixed bags of fruits and vegetables, all farmed locally. Each bag comes with a substantial amount and variety of produce and costs much less than a trip to the weekend farmer’s market. Press release after the jump…

Hotel Entertainment Group is launching a CSA (community supported agriculture) in Downtown Los Angeles near Little Tokyo on Tuesday, July 28. Time for pick-up is between 12:30 to 7:00 p.m. They will have a “round-about” where you can drive-through and pick up your bag of local, organic produce! The cost for a bag is $25 and you get an awesome assortment. You can order a mixed bag of fruits and veggies or just a full bag of fruit. $2 from each bag goes to school garden and nutrition programs.

Please email sara@csacalifornia.org before Monday at 6:00 p.m. to order a bag. You can pay with cash or check when you arrive. The address and location is at Multeepurpose Cafe (269 S. San Pedro, Los Angeles, 90013), on the corner of 3rd. The cafe is at the bottom of a new luxury apartment building. The round-about is the parking structure for the space. You can drive through and get your bag or come into the cafe. Below is what will be in this week’s bag. Please email with any questions.
