Conceived during a walk on the streets of Edinburgh, Firs’ “New Hope In Soft Light” recounts the more delicate moments of Air or Sigur Rós. Melancholy piano, soft violin and ambient flourishes gently build up to an arrangement that brings to mind two of Jonathan D. Haskell’s inspirations →

Hey EM readers, a nice tip-off to the fashion-conscious and stylish dressers out there. There has been a limited time pop-up shop in the OC which began on Wednesday and will be going on until Saturday (Aug 12-15). Although there’s only two days left, sources tell me there are still lots of quality apparel to cop! With great deals 70-90% off retail. →
I’m really interested to see what the Mulleavy sisters roll out for their Go! International collection, set to hit Target stores Dec. 20th. Known for ethereal creations that appear almost too delicate to touch, one has to wonder how that handcrafted, DIY sensibility will translate to the mass market. According to WWD, who spoke with Target spokesman Joshua Thomas, the focus will be on details, layering and mixes of patterns and fabrics, which if you have seen any of →

I came across a map from the NYT’s economix blog featuring data from the National Surveys on Drug Use and Health’s research in 2006 and 2007 . The numbers shocked me, especially for data obtained for the youth population (ages 12-17).

Most people that know me, understand that I possess a very sick sense of humor. I gain the most pleasure at the darkest of moments. American Psycho is one of my favorite movies. As a kid growing up in the ’80s, it captured everything I fantasized I wanted as an adult: Money, fame, good looks, women, drugs, tailored suits, letterpressed business cards (smirk), oh and did I say women? Of course this didn’t nearly satisfy the murderous tendencies →

Epic romances. Weekend getaways. Just another Saturday night. All steamy adventures are spurred by a liplock. Luckily, Villainess Soaps has prepared a proper kiss goodbye. Their Smooch body scrub is filled with vitamin rich oils to moisturize and raw sugars and crushed botanicals to exfoliate your skin, leaving you undeniably supple and dangerously smooth. Because a great evening may incept with an innocuous make-out but the true voyage tends to commence at “your place or mine”. →

Famed Italian suitmaker Brioni recently shocked the formalwear world when it announced plans to release a small line of t-shirts in response to the current economic crisis. Andrea Perrone, Chief Executive at Brioni and family descendent, said in a recent New York Times article, “Even if you’re committed to your heritage, you have to be aware of where the market is going”. And, the market has increasingly gone casual in recent years, causing similar brands to undress their lines. However, at $250 a piece, these are no normal t-shirts. They feature hand-stitching, luxurious materials and a smug feeling of superiority that only such overpriced goods can provide. Read the full article here.
