The Pastels & Tenniscoats

Domino and Geographic are proud to announce that the long-awaited Pastels and Tenniscoats collaboration, Two Sunsets will release this Fall. Recorded in Glasgow over a two or three year period usually around Tenniscoats’ U.K. touring, the album started out casually from a simple idea of booking some studio time and letting whatever happened happen. The first recording was promising and slightly rushed, but suggested enough to carry on. Songs seemed to come naturally and a group mode was established, usually Saya and Ueno from Tenniscoats with Stephen, Katrina and

Scion Presents the Flux Super 8

super8_1

If you’ve ever been to an art exhibition then you know each event contains coldzones and hotspots.  Hotspots are the installations are constantly being crowded with onlookers, the type of pieces that will perpetually arrest an individual until they’ve finally taken their fill or are eventually elbowed out.  Coldzones are…well…you know.  But what if you happened upon a show that was chocked full of hotspots?  The place would have to be at capacity, standing room only, with a bustling line draped down the street outside.  It’d have to make some outrageous claim like showcasing “eight of the world’s most talented emerging filmmakers, video artists and design collectives.”  Welcome to the first annual Flux Super 8 at the Scion Installation Gallery.  It’s time to be wowed.

Baci Baci Moisturizing Lip Sheer

baci_baci_single_sweetpea

Injections. Surgery. Fat grafts (ew!). There’s a plethora of ways to plump your lips by going under the knife. Luckily La Bella Donna has made a mighty mineral gloss to rescue you from any sharp objects. Their Baci Baci Lip Sheer adds high shine with a click of a silver pen. Sodium hyaluronate creates a barrier for lips so they condition over time and the presence of collagen aids in anti-aging. So your lips will be glossy, full, and kissable-y smooth. We’ll chalk that up to the power of the pen. In two new colors: Sweet Pea and Nude.

Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance
Monterey, CA
8/13 – 8/16
***

The moment I stepped out of my girlfriend’s Saturn Ion, I knew that this was going to be one of those expectation-shattering events. On my mosey to the entrance, I saw more exotics than I’d seen in my entire life, including a Ferrari F40 parked conveniently next to a Ferrari F50.  Things like this don’t occur in nature.  Pebble Beach is like the Biodome for supercars, which meant I was like a kid in a candy store. Every car poster I’d ever had was now in front of me, begging for my fingerprints to smudge its carnauba wax. And smudge I did, especially the white Countach with its car phone still installed.

“You & Me” Video

Dark pastures in CGI rendered silhouettes grow darker with each suspenseful step of the Walkmen‘s latest music video for the You & Me song.  The rabbits approach their fate with reminiscence of Watership Down while the pathos runs high with the soaring, melancholic voice of Hamilton Leithauser.  Check out this animated short directed by Nir Ben Jacob.
