Doin’ the Dirty

Some music just cannot be put into a category. Some music just doesn’t quite fit into either this or that genre. Some music you just know it’s good when you hear it. Definitely not your average band, the Brooklyn-based Dirty Projectors explores a variety of sounds including New England soul to experimental rock and references anything from Congolese music to medieval antiphonal singing, bringing a whole new sound to their audience. The group, led by David Longstreth has collaborated with well-known artists such as Bjork and David Bryne.

Get a taste of their new and unique sound yourself as they will be having two incredible shows taking place early next year. Their first show will be at New York City’s Lincoln Center as part of the American Songbook series on February 19th. The American Songbook series celebrates the achievements of American popular songs and genres as they take a look back at the history of American song from what it was in the past to where it is going in the future.

The second show Dirty Projectors will co-headline will be at the Walt Disney Concert Hall with the Los Angeles Philharmonic on February 27th. The infamous LA Philharmonic has been known as Southern California’s leading performing arts institution since it was founded in 1919. The first half of the show will feature orchestral pieces performed by the LA Philharmonic individually chosen with Longstreth of Dirty Projectors. The second half of the show features a performance by Dirty Projectors.
