Got water? Pump Aid is a grassroots organization that offers solutions to clean water provision and sanitation, access to clean water for drinking, water for irrigation, toilets with hygiene and nutritional education. Why? Because clean water should be accessible and is a fundamental human right. The organization was developed by three awesome teachers living and working in rural Zimbabwe where they saw how the community was affected by the unsafe and open sources of water. In an effort to help out the community, they developed the Elephant Pump, a low cost solution providing clean water to rural communities. To ensure sanitation as a priority for Pump Aid in a community of 2.5 billion people who do not have access to a toilet, they also provide “Elephant Toilets” to communities. Pump Aid is active in Zimbabwe and Malawi and have a pilot project in Mozambique as well. Because of the high demand in neighboring countries, Pump Aid plans to expand into other countries in the near future.
