The Bloggomist: Table of Content
Book Review
Being fourteen – in my memory, anyhow – is no piece of cake. It’s kind of a no-man’s-land: you’re no longer a grade-school kid, your parents don’t (really) pick your clothes anymore, your secondary sexual characteristics are either out of control or out-of-order, and you’re suddenly held responsible for your music choices and weekend activities →

Fashion Opinion
I love fall. Changing leaves, heavy tweeds, hot toddies; the works. My experience of the season has been (understandably I guess) different in L.A. than it was growing up in New England. There are no major temperature drops requiring sweaters, no changing leaves to mimic with our own palette adjustments, and no brown leaves to crunch under heavy leather boots. →
For the past year and a half, Quincy Jones III of QD3 Entertainment and director Adam Lough have been working on a behind-the-scenes documentary about Lil Wayne, aptly titled The Carter. The documentary has been praised for its unfiltered and sometimes shocking view into the rockstar lifestyle of one of today’s hottest and most prolific artists. The trailer hints at Wayne’s open drug use and resulting manic personality, including confessions from close friends who are worried about his health. →

The Bloggomist: My Celluloid Fix
The Naked Kiss (1964)
My love affair with Sam Fuller began over a decade ago when I stumbled upon an old copy of his pulp film, The Naked Kiss. It felt like fate. Although one might argue that Naked was not as visually stunning or complex as his other masterpieces, namely Shock Corridor or Pick Up on South Street, the film was a direct and honest look into the great man’s philosophy. A fierce message of individuality showed through cracks of suburban complacency. →

Film Opinion
“As they say,” Viggo Mortensen said as he smiled over a completely packed Mann’s Chinese, “fear is the great teacher.” His voice was gravelly, trembling tentatively just above a whisper, so seemingly-fragile that the feedback whistling through the system periodically exposed the nightmare the soundman was having trying to keep his levels up. →
