The Bloggomist: Acorn & Oak Tree
Fashion Opinion
Those who know me well know that for the past couple months I’ve been plagued by a relentless obsession. I want anything and everything Navajo printed. Exactly how and when this happened, I’m not sure, but the combination of hard geometry and flashy desert colors has me daydreaming of dusty, remote ranches to come.
Lucky for me (and you), plenty of designers and retailers are into it too. You can also find a wealth of goods on Ebay and Etsy – simply by searching for the classics from Ralph Lauren and Pendleton.

3 Tips for the writer of this entry:
Tip 1:
Don’t use the word “plague” when describing your penchant for Indian blankets or style. It’s bad taste.
Tip 2:
be more intelligent/creative when coming up with titles. “Nuts for Navajo” is kinda like saying “Wacky for Whites” or “Buggy for Blacks”. How bout something like “Dine (real name for Navajo) Style”
Tip3: Do some research on the Dine people and the history of Pendelton and how the blankets are still given to people as a gesture of great friendship. Always remember that fashion with intelligence is powerful fashion.
While you are probably correct that most of us could benefit from more exposure to Native American culture, I think it’s fairly clear that this post is written not only with the purest of intentions, but with respect for the Navajo (as their Nation is called and popularly referred) culture and an admiration of its centuries-old aesthetic (which ultimately is the point of my column). I will, however, admit that while I do consider myself a master punster, I did not catch the ‘plague’ double entendre. It should go without saying that ironic small pox jokes are not representative of the point of view of this piece, its writer or Evil Monito.
