EM: Occupation and Position
QUACH: Creative Director at PRVCY Premium, a part time poker player, and I also start various projects not related to art or fashion.
EM: What neighborhood do you closely identify with?
Over the last four years I’ve lived in Alhambra for the Chinese food, Silverlake for the interesting entrepreneurship, and Downtown LA for the faster pace of lifestyle. After months of searching I decided to purchase a loft in downtown. Downtown is unique in the way it houses designers & businessmen. This leads to a lot of interesting relationships that don’t happen in other cities. It’s smaller then most cities so it’s very pedestrian-friendly. I really believe the more people walk, the prouder they are of their neighborhood.
EM: What’s the greatest item that you found at your local garage/estate sale?
My phonograph that plays 78’s. It’s made in 1913, has a crank, and housed in a beautiful wooden cabinet.
EM: If you could interview one unsung hero, who would it be? Why?
Stu Unger, the poker player that is considered to be the best in history. He was a born child prodigy that later became a self-destructive addict. He succumbed to drug addiction, gambling addiction, and even sex addiction at the young age of 22. He’s one of those people that are made perfect but flawed in every single way.
EM: What’s your favorite youtube video.
EM: Where are your favorite local spots to eat?
Pete’s Café in Downtown, Anjin in Costa Mesa, and any Shin-zen-gumi.
EM: What songs are at the top of your playlist at this very moment?
“Velvet” by The Big Pink, “Talk Show Host” by Radiohead and anything with Lil’ Wayne.
EM: What is your current bedside read?
Art of Start, How Would You Move Mount Fuji, and One of a kind – The Stu Unger story.
EM: What is your favorite city to visit when you travel abroad? And why?
Shanghai. The old broken poor buildings are pushed against the brand new sky scrappers. The bums crowd the streets begging with change but people are eating four thousand dollar dinners. There’s contrast in every detail.
EM: What new projects you are building on right now?
I just wrapped a project with Theme Magazine called Lives Inspired. It’s a book telling the stories of 40 breast cancer survivors. http://www.prvcypremium.com/livesinspired/
Also just finished up ContactSheets.nu which this allows photographers to share their photos with their clients easily. Just launched Freedur.com – it allows people in China or other countries with a firewall to surf websites that are blocked (e.g. twitter, facebook, google.com). Working with brutelabs.org on tons of non-profit projects. Finally working on media buys for the year of 2010 with all major fashion magazines.
