Inspired by the Minutemen song, Evil Monito’s “Tour Spiel” provides an intimate look into the musician’s tumultuous life on the road. Each week, we’ll check in with some of our favorite artists touring stateside or abroad and find out what it’s like to be packed in a van or waiting at the baggage claim for hours on end. It’s ultimately the memorable experiences with friends that make life on the road rewarding, or at the very least interesting. This week it’s the band, Screaming Females who brave fascist admins from a New Brunswick college campus and gastrointestinal distress to get their music across to the masses. →

Today at 7pm, Origami will be hosting the opening of “Jordan and Annie Join the Circus,” an exhibition of new collaborative artwork by Annie Madison and Jordan Tyson. Ferocious illustrations and daredevil patterns walk the flying trapeze, while jumbo silkscreens and watercolors get shot from a cannon during this month long show. →
Tim of OK Go admits he was especially excited about visiting the land of yogurt and treats- Pinkberry. Upon entering, his friend Tim (II), almost runs him over (accidentally, of course). They somehow become inspired by Tim’s (I) near-death-experience and tell fellow band mate Damian they should make a music video for their debut single “WTF?” (yes, that is an acronym for the commonly referenced phrase…”What the F*ck!”). →

The seventies brought an end to the peace, love and flowers of the preceding decade. For militant groups around the world, the revolution would not be peaceful. It had to arrive through the explosive bloodletting of bombs and rifles. →
Experimental psych-pop band Yeasayer are no strangers to technical wizardry. Their live sets are known to immerse the audience in light and sound with trippy visual effects. In the video for “Ambling Alp,” their latest single off the forthcoming Odd Blood (2010), the members of Yeasayer are in what resembles a Jodorowsky Western full of hooded riders and psycho-magic. The band’s follow-up to 2007′s All Hour Cymbals will be out next February on Secretly Canadian (U.S.) and Mute Records (international). →
In this video for “The Rake Song,” Alex Dashino and Varvara Volodina (both students of Central St. Martins College of Art & Design) bring to life The Decemberists’ folk tale with stop-motion animation and shadow cut-outs. The two students directed the video in Moscow, which may explain the visual references to Russian folktales. Decemberists lead singer Colin Meloy approved: “Any video referencing Baba Yaga, that lovable Russian folktale mainstay, is A+ in my book.” →
