A Crying Shame

LeBasse Projects is excited to present “A Crying Shame,” an exhibition of new works from gallery-represented artist Rebecca Artemisa Urias. In her first solo project since moving to Portland, Urias returns to Los Angeles for a featured exhibit in the Project Room.

Urias draws her inspiration from her childhood memories, merging them with both natural and historical events to create a surreal, dreamlike world where her characters play out their capricious and mischievous fantasies. Her work is infused with religious and pagan symbols, driven from her experiences as a youth. Urias’ finely detailed yet sweetly naive work has built her an international fan base who rapidly buy out her hand-crafted jewelry as well as her paintings.
