Motherly Love

A mother’s love for her son is not only an irreplaceable one, but there is a protective bond between the two that at times can become a dangerous one. But once in a while, you always see those supermoms that go above and beyond, unable to let go of their sons, who are now grown-ass men and needs to be on his grind instead of being breastfed by their mothers. In the movie Mother directed by Bong Joon-ho, Hye-ja (played by Kim Hye-ja) fits into this supermom category: a single middle-aged mother who lives

These two tracks from their live set will be available through their website for $2.50 each. 100% of the funds will go out to Doctors Without

Part One: “No Justice, No Peace”

The Bloggomist: The Lost Traveller

The sounds of sirens break the silence. Figures stand cold and undaunted, as their ‘armor’ radiates against the stark, blue sky. Commotion rings loud in the midnight air. Shouts of desperation are pleaded and just within seconds, gunshots trumpet, blaring like the commencement of war. Thick, smoke ripples through the flesh as a mother wails for the loss of her only son. Images of giving birth to him flash in between moments of despondency and rage as she holds onto her last living memory of her child.

The Bloggomist: Design in the Blood
Design Opinion

Without a doubt, the Segway is a milestone in engineering. Yet all that is for nought, because you can’t help but look a complete tool when riding one. It’s this niche market that we’ve become obsessed with; it’s not a bicycle, it’s not a scooter, it’s not a unicycle or a skateboard…it’s a new type of transportation with an ‘intuitive’ mode of operation that requires batteries, motors and gyroscopes to function. A modern marvel yet at the same time utterly pointless.

Tour Spiel: Mumiy Troll

Inspired by the Minutemen song, Evil Monito’s “Tour Spiel” highlights the musician’s life on the road. Each week, we’ll check in with some of our favorite artists touring stateside or abroad. We’ll provide an intimate look into what it’s like to be packed in a van or waiting for a flight with the same people for hours on end. It takes a certain state of mind to survive any lengthy tour. Yet it’s the memorable experiences that makes touring ultimately rewarding, if not interesting. This week we feature Mumiy Troll, a band that survived Russia’s harsh censorship of musicians in the early eighties and now thrives in the global music scene.

Me Thing Drawing Me

Brooklyn’s Javelin cuts and splices eclectic samples to create dance hits that are difficult to place, geographically and categorically. Their Frankenstein approach to beat-making draws from the old and new. Funk jams, disco hits, breakbeats and amateur raps are in due course for the duo. It’s like being thrown into a time warp where contemporary club bangers are just as likely to rub up against sitar samples as they are to raps about STDs.
