Curated by Sinead Finnerty-Pyne, The Armory Center for the Arts is proud to present Stitches, a group exhibition which explores contemporary art approaches to techniques of sewing, knitting and weaving. The exhibition will include two dimensional and freestanding sculptural works as well as large scale installations. This exhibition showcases the practices of twelve culturally diverse artists working with principles and applications inspired by craft, textile and fiber art. The artists at the exhibition share their own unconventional approach by practicing these art forms utilizing various materials from yarn to recycled clothing. →

There was something refreshing in Washington, D.C. during the 98th celebration of the National Cherry Blossom Festival, an event that commemorates Japan’s gift of 3,000 trees to the United States in 1912. The two week long celebration was launched on the peak day of the Cherry Blossom trees on the Tidal Bassin last Thursday and welcomed the official invasion of DC tourism. By the end of the year, fifteen million people are estimated to visit Washington. →
