Guggenheim Museum is proud of present Julie Mehretu: Grey Area presented as part of the Deutsche Bank Series. This exhibition consists of six new large-scale paintings by American artist, Julie Mehretu, who has had international exhibitions and has received international recognition for her work. Mehretu’s work includes historical photographs, urban planning grids, modern art,and graffiti and explores the intersections of power, history, dystopia and the built environment as well as their impact on the formation of individual as well as communal identities. Mehretu is known for her brilliant use of pictorial space. She layers detailed schematic depictions of cityscapes and plays with depth perception.
