Jojo Mayer’s Nerve Returns

A LaMazing Production
Le Poisson Rouge- NYC, NY
05/16/10

Dancer/Party promoter, LaMazing, brings together another extravagant production at Le Poisson Rouge. She welcomes you to an evening of sonic loveliness featuring Sonnymoon’s NYC debut, Mike Slott, Sweatshoppe, DJ Melo-X, dancer LICK and headliner, Jojo Mayer/Nerve.  Jojo Mayer is a legendary drum wizard. When he built his band, Nerve, it created a gateway to new musical paradigms that pioneered the movement of live electronic music. Nerve generated a tremendous amount of enthusiastic response among New York’s downtown scene and the media which led to the creation of the legendary “PROHIBITED BEATZ” party nights. The party traveled the club and festival circuits of Europe and Asia and generated a cult following around the world. Nerve officially returns to their home base NYC for an exciting night shared with these other pioneers of art and music.

And Sonnymoon’s Dane Orr and Anna Wise are onto something new and refreshing with a sound that falls between Sharon Jones and Bjork. When these two Berklee College of Music students put their debut album Golden Ageup for free download, they turned heads across the internet. With a healthy appetite for ambient productions and hypnotizing vocal deliveries, Sonnymoon’s breakout cut from Golden Age is their song “HTLV” set to be released May 4th, 2010 on iTunes.

To complete the evening is a cast to compliment a new wave of music and art. Visual artist, Shantell Martin, is pioneering an area that combines improvised stream-of-consciousness live illustration and its intricate and complex relationship to music. Sweatshoppe intersects art, music, and technology. They developed a software that creates graffiti video art and unique ways of affecting the audience. Rising star DJ of Kid Sister and Electric Punanny parties, Melo – X, will be bringing the funk by deejaying the live preview to his highly anticipated upcoming album, Sonic Intercourse. Mike Slott, who has been pushing hip hop beats in directions to boggle our minds and charm souls, has built a reputation in the forefront of beatmaking that will have us thirsting for more from the LuckyMe camp. Finally, the glue to a sonically rich and seductive evening will be scattered appearances throughout the venue by the stimulating dancing ladies of LICK. Come out and play. It is worth the visit.
