Kicked-Ass

The Local Boy
Film Opinion

The first time I came across “Kick-Ass “was browsing trailers on apple.com.  God, that looks retarded, I mused, quickly glossing over the row and clicking to the next page.  In the sea of stupid, someone managed to net a freaking whale.  But as clever ads started popping up all over Los Angeles, my curiosity was piqued.  I sampled the trailer.  Interesting.  I consulted the talking heads.  Positive feedback.  So with guarded expectations I grabbed a friend and swung by a late night showing at downtown’s beautiful Nokia Theater in the LA Live.  What we experienced was nothing like I imagined.

Buona Estate

Civil is eager to present their new Summer collection, “Buona Estate”, inspired by both the Euro-centric origins of the high fashion world and the street forward mentality and concepts of Los Angeles. Drawing from the essence of summertime in Europe, this collection is a testament to the true renaissance man, the thinker, the activist, the humanitarian, the man who can do everything. Civil stays true to their old world European aesthetic meshed with a modern day twist of street flavor and dopeness.

Check out their Summer collection here.

dublab at Turntable Lab

05/08/10

What up EM fam! It’s been a while since I’ve posted here, but if you’re around LA this Saturday here are some happenings we can hang at. Although the Keith Haring exhibit and Big City Forum look really great, there’s a Secondhand Sureshots Art Installation Opening Party (dublab) at Turntable Lab and there’s going to be a Fairfax Artwalk going on that evening too, so it should be pretty tight. Earlier in the day I’ll be djing in Los Feliz at the Steven Alan Outpost for the precious Les Morceaux accessory line. So should be fun times all around. Neato! Full info at link ->
