Toyota’s Free Yr Radio continues four years strong, with their support to independent, non-commercial radio on the roads across the U.S. at the best music festivals around the nation. By independent stations, I mean KEXP, The Current and KUSF with artists including Yeasayer, Calexico and Sonic Youth. Toyota’s Free Yr Radio makes their presence clear at events including Siren Fest, Lollapalooza, Mile High, Outside Lands, Bumbershoot, the Voodoo Experience, and CMJ. Toyota’s Free Yr Radio reminds us that in a digital age when online services gradually makes music more and more inhumane, independent radio offers human-curated artist discovery which nurtures fans of a specific group or band for the right reasons.
The exclusive audio recorded at each event will be distributed free of charge to the nation’s network of CMJ-reporting indie stations for listeners throughout the country to enjoy. Toyota’s Free Yr Radio will also make a contribution to each partner station and support their efforts to raise funds through on-site activities which include photo-booth Corolla and a make-your-own Shrinky Dink station.
