Few artists can combine uncomfortable with catchy; paranoiac with head-nodding; morbid with springy. It’s hard to rattle a listener to their core while simultaneously keeping their feet moving, but if one man has done it consistently over the years its El-P.
It is with great pride that the Low End Theory family welcomes the legendary rapper, producer, and head of the hugely influential indie rap label Definitive Jux, to his first ever performance at the world famous Wednesday night barnburner. His exclusively instrumental set will be performed in conjuncture with the release of his newest album Weareallgoingtoburninhellmegamixxx3 (Gold Dust). A completely instrumental affair, comes out on Gold Dust August 3rd, 2010. The suite of instrumentals continue to exemplify the producer’s versatile, otherworldly and wholly original sonic worldview. “I wanted to do little mini-movements that had a real beginning, middle and end and then moved on,” says El-P. “The challenge for me was taking all these seemingly unrelated little pieces of music I had laying around and fitting them together as a cohesive piece. I wanted to craft a record that had an arc.”
El-P will be joined at the Airliner by the full cast of Low End Theory residents: Daddy Kev, DJ Nobody, The Gaslamp Killer, D-Styles, and Nocando.
