“Four Different Sounds…”

After much success across the pond in London, Red Bull Music Academy Culture Clash will make its U.S. debut in Los Angeles on Thursday, December 2nd at Exchange LA. Four L.A. based, but internationally known and well-respected music collectives will participate and battle to be named winner by the crowd. The collectives will be Dim Mak, Dub Club, Smog and Stones Throw.

Techno Gourmand

James Ford and Jas Shaw are not squeamish when it comes to the world’s cuisines. As part of techno act Simian Mobile Disco, they’ve toured places like Ibiza and Glastonbury, eating their way through each city and picking up inspiration. These globe-trotting gourmands have combined their analog production aesthetic and world-wise experiences to release the digital-only release Delicacies, a compilation of instrumental 12″ singles named after their favorite foods.

16 Shades

Minimalist funk group Fujiya & Miyagi returns with a darker, more piercing sound in new single “16 Shades of Black and Blue.” Taking a decidedly more confrontational route, the band confronts the world with songs about feeling annoyed at institutions and people, which is a feeling that should be common to almost anyone who follows the news. The new record Ventriloquizzing comes out in January 2011 through Full Time Hobby and Yep Roc.

Arcade Fire

From INTO THE WOODS.TV, Daedelus tears it up on his custom-made monome at Ground Kontrol Arcade in Portland. The L.A.-based artist is an admitted fan of tabletop gaming, but in this video, he shows off a little bit of muscle in the 1991 arcade classic Street Fighter II. Check out his five-finger technique across multiple platforms.

REDCAT is pleased to present the first U.S. exhibition by Decolonizing Architecture. Initiated by Alessandro Petti, Sandi Hilal and Eyal Weizman in 2007, Decolonizing Architecture is a project set up as a research studio and residency program in Beit Sahour, Bethlehem. The studio examines architecture to articulate the spatial complexities of decolonization, taking the conflict over Palestine as their main case study.
